Sometimes things really seem to get out of control. Finances is one area. Money
runs out, and there is not any place you can turn to get more. Health is another
area. You get sick,... I mean really sick, and the doctors just cannot help you.
Age catches up to you, and you just wear out.
Addiction is
another area where people get out of control. Maybe it is not you, but a family
member, who gets to drinking or doing drugs, and they wreck your home. What can
you do? The government has all kinds of programs, but nothing seems to work. The
police come, but they cannot get the person to stop drinking.
Children get to
the point where they are out of control. They are too big to discipline, and
they don’t want to listen to you anymore. They don’t take your advice to stay in
school, and they start hanging out with the bad kids. Is there any help?
Yes, there is.
“Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest.” Jesus said that in the Bible in Matthew 11:28. This rest is not
in a pill. It is not in a bottle. It is real rest, and Jesus is alive today and
wants to give it to you.
He explained it
a little further: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek
and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Do you want
this rest? How can you take Jesus’ yoke on yourself? A yoke was the harness that
was put on an ox so it could pull a plow or a wagon. Jesus does not just put you
in the yoke to work. No. He has the yoke on him, and shares it with you. He does
all the heavy pulling. He is stronger than we are and understands our burdens.
Maybe you are
thinking that you do not want any yoke, but think a minute. You are already
pulling a heavy load and have the yoke of the world, the yoke of finances, the
yoke of trouble and distress. Put that yoke off and put Jesus’ yoke on. His yoke
is easy and His burden is light (Matt. 11:30).
When Jesus was
with His disciples in the upper room, He knew He was going to be betrayed by
Judas and that He was going to be tortured and killed, but He still loved and
cared for His disciples. John 13:1 says clearly, “when Jesus knew that his
hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having
loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”
Jesus will love
you with the same kind of love. If He loves you, He will want to help you. If He
wants to help you, He will help you, and He has all power so that
He can help you. My mother sometimes wanted to help me, but she could
not. You may have friends who want to help you, but they just do not have the
ability to help you. Jesus not only wants to help you, He has the power to help
you.
How can you get
Jesus to help you? Acts 16:31 in the Bible answers that question. “Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” God wants you to
believe Him. When you believe on Jesus, God gives you salvation as a free gift.
Romans 6:23 explains it, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” John 3:16 says it, too,
“God so loved the world … that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life.”
How can it be
so easy? Some people have sinned really bad. The answer is that Jesus took your
punishment for sin. He was punished for all the bad things that you did. It says
this in II Cor-inthians 5:21,
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made
the righteousness of God in him.”
God laid all of our sins on Jesus, and then punished Him just as if it had been
us hanging on that cross. Because God already did this, we can have the credit
of all the good things that Jesus did, His righteousness, by just believing on
Jesus.
Let me ask you
a couple of things. Do you realize that you have sinned and offended Almighty
God? Do you understand that you deserve to be punished for your sins? Are you
aware that Jesus died for you and took your place on the cross of Calvary? Do
you believe that Jesus rose again from the dead like the Bible says? Will you
right now pray to God and tell Him that you believe this and that you want Him
to save you? Pray like this: Dear God, I know I am a sinner and I am sorry
for what I have done. I believe that Jesus died for me and shed His blood for
me. I believe that He rose again from the dead like the Bible says, and I ask
you to save me like You have promised to do. Thank you. Help me to live for you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you believe
on Jesus, you are saved because the Bible says so. Romans 10:13 says, “For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How do
you know if you are saved? The Bible says so. God will not lie. You can trust
His word. If you are saved, you need to learn more of what the Bible says, and
we will help you do this. If you have just now prayed to get saved, we would
like to know. You may print the coupon in the link below or just mail us a note letting
